Known from the middle of the 19th century, the Hill of Crosses is situated near Šiauliai. It is a place where religious people from all over the world come to pray and leave crosses in order to show their love for Christ.

In 1993 the Pope John Paul II blessed all Christian community of Europe from the Hill of Crosses. As cross is a symbol of love, the Hill of Crosses holds a special place in the hearts of religious people from all over the world.
